Oktoberfest  at Doo-Bop featured over 75 amazing acts.

Starting out in October, we played host to one of the most promising jazz ensembles in Australia. Performing under the moniker “The Mount Gambier Allstars” (paying homage to their hometown), these talented young men form part of the James Morrison Academy Honours Ensemble. Their 4 October show was a hit, with patrons saying it was the “best live music we’ve seen in years”. We can’t wait to hear their debut album, and we’d love to have them again at Doo-Bop soon for another night of world-class jazz!

Friday Nights at Doo-Bop Piano Bar have been a hit around town. Our regular Groove Fridays act John Delord Duo has been pulling in crowds with his powerful voice and rich repertoire. He is so good, in fact, that Australian actor Paul Bishop (Blue Heelers; 48 Shades) popped in to say hello.

Nic Jeffries Workshop Inspires

Doo-Bop hosted its very first workshop in the Doo-Bop Workshop Series. The Series aims to connect world-class local, interstate and international artists with performers from all backgrounds to educate, inspire and develop their work. We were extremely grateful to have our Series kick off with none other than Nic Jeffries (sax/voice, Sydney), who brought his wealth of performative and technical experience to workshop participants. Read more about our workshop series here: Doo-Bop Workshop Series

Doo-Bop on TV

Doo-Bop was lucky enough to be recently featured on Channel 7’s “The Great Day Out”. Nova 106.9 host Miriam Young showed viewers what her “great day out” would look like, which included capping off her day with cocktails and music at Doo-Bop. We were delighted to host the Great Day Out team, Miriam and her partner Jack! Watch the video here

Joe Chindamo Makes an Impression

We were incredibly grateful to have jazz royalty Joe Chindamo (Melbourne) grace the stage over two nights this month. With talented locals Helen Svoboda on bass and Joe Marchisella on drums, Joe created a wonderful and unique experience for the Doo-Bop audience.

Melbourne’s Phil Noy Joins us at Doo-Bop

Phil Noy brought his immense talent from Melbourne to Brisbane for one night only last Thursday.

Frances Madden Sells Out

What a weekend! The terrific Frances Madden (Sydney) packed out Doo-Bop for two nights with her Jazz, Blues & Classics Show. Our audience particularly enjoyed the harmonic interplay of Frances on vocals and local jazz singer Kayleigh Pincott on backing vocals. We would love to welcome Frances back to Doo-Bop in the new year.
