Join us for this special lunch-time show with an all-female band, as we celebrate women in jazz. Tickets price includes your meal, a fantastic show by the Wilson/Svoboda/Baartz Trio and a presentation from our special guest speaker Leah Cotterell!

The Music

Appearing together for the first time are three of Brisbane’s busiest women on the jazz scene today. Peta Leigh Wilson, a brilliantly versatile and inventive pianist/composer, has played with the best and composed for film and radio. Bassist/composer Helen Svoboda has worked with the likes of Joe Chindamo. In addition to freelancing, Helen leads a number of her own original projects, including The Biology of Plants, Sprout and the Min/Svoboda/Hawkins Trio. Saxophonist/Composer Martha Baartz  has performed with the likes of Renee Geyer and had much of her original material played on Radio National’s Jazztrack. Individually, each of the three has had much success performing nationally and internationally in varying collaborations. This will be a special coming together in the spirit of strong women everywhere, to celebrate International Women’s Day with passion and finesse.

Guest Speaker Leah Cotterell

We are excited to announce that performer, producer and motivational speaker Leah Cotterell will be joining us as our guest speaker for our International Women’s Day Lunch! Leah Cotterell has performed for 30 years with top professional musicians everywhere from folk clubs to jazz festivals, from civic halls to concert stages and on radio and TV. Through the blend of speech and songs, Leah’s many recent public speaking engagements have been praised for their honesty and uplifting impact.

The Food

The special set menu will include a choice of main and dessert from the selection below. Our Improv menu will also be available to order from for general admission tickets.

Mains:

Caramelized pumpkin, corn and lentils (v)
