Palimpsest, featuring Tyrone Noonan, makes its first 2019 Doo Bop appearance to focus on the brilliant American jazz singer, pianist and composer Harry Connick Jr. Having sold more than 28 million albums worldwide, he has also earned m,ore Number One US jazz albums than any other artist in US jazz chart history. He started playing in bands a young child and then had initial worldwide success reinterpreting jazz standard including “It had To Be You” for the hugely successful movie When harry Met Sally, and has consistently delivered amazing music ever since and is often overlooked as a formidable composer as well, which will be part of the focus of tonight’s show, along with taking the lead from his brilliant reinterpretations of the popular songwriting canon.
Wil Sargisson on piano, Aidan Arnold on double bass and Rich Seymour on drums.
“It was fantastic and for a minute there I imagined I was at the Sands in Vegas listening to Ol’ Blue Eyes himself. Noonan is brilliant and relaxed” Phil Brown, Arts Editor, The Courier-Mail
