Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University presents: Dan Ford Quintet – with guest vocalist Jess Spina
Saxophonist Dan Ford leads a quintet featuring some of Brisbane’s finest musicians for a night of original compositions and jazz standards. The evening will also include a guest appearance from vocalist Jess Spina.
Originally from Canberra, saxophonist Dan Ford followed his passion for jazz and improvised music by studying at the Australian National University’s School of Music, is currently undertaking a Masters program at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Dan has performed at a wide range of events in Australia, and in Europe, including the Queensland Music Festival, the Jazz Festivals of Merimbula, Moruya and Townsville, the Canberra International Music Festival with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and at jazz clubs across the country.
Dan led his quintet at the popular Summer Sounds concert series at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, and performed live on Canberra’s 92.7 ArtSound FM. He has performed with some of Australia’s finest musicians, including James Morrison, Wilbur Wilde, and David Campbell. Dan can also be heard playing lead alto with the Brisbane Contemporary Jazz Orchestra.
The Dan Ford Quintet presents a collection of original compositions and jazz standards in a distinctive modern jazz style.

Qld Conservatorium Jazz presents some of their most dynamic and original new artists in this once a month Tuesday night series.
Jazz studies with the Bachelor of Music degree at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University began in the early 1990’s and since that time has evolved to boast 2 exceptional big bands, 2 vocal ensembles, and at least a dozen smaller jazz ensembles that serve as a training ground for young artists exploring their improvisational and/or compositional voice. Notable alumni include; Isaac Hurren, Kristin Berardi, Elly Hoyt, Jacam Manricks, Katie Noonan, Joseph O’Connor, and Megan Washington.
Come along to hear this new generation of artists present their exciting sounds.
