Event Details

Dirty-soul act Blues Arcadia are hitting the Eastern highways and byways once again with the latest cut from their critically-acclaimed Carnival Of Fools album (4.5 stars – The Australian; 5 stars – Courier Mail).

The “Two Wrongs Tour” features a video release and shows kicking off this March in Melbourne, Sydney and the NSW Coast culminating in home-state dates in Queensland in April.

The video for Two Wrongs (Don’t Make It Right) was shot in the band’s backyard on a 38C day at Mini Mecca in Brisbane, a retro-custom car garage specialising in the restoration vintage Mini Coopers. Sweating it out between car hoists surrounded by engine parts was a unique performance experience captured by local film-maker Geoff McLeod, who has documented the band since their formation four years ago. Since then, Blues Arcadia have been *two-time Australian Blues Music Award winners and Australian Roots Music Award nominees, and played festivals around the country including Woodford Folk Festival, Thredbo Blues, Blues on Broadbeach and Mornington Peninsula Blues Festival.

With Blues Blast Magazine (US) enthusing that “with them, the future of blues is secure”, Blues Arcadia draw from influences as rich and diverse as The Meters, Robben Ford, Ronnie Earl,
P-Funk and Big Mama Thornton, creating a sound that is part jazz, blues and funk fortified with a dash of dark and dirty soul. Their latest single Two Wrongs (Don’t Make It Right) is no exception: a funky-ass face-slapper of rolling snare hits and Rhodes keyboard stabs dancing around the final moments of a romantic relationship in terminal decline.

“The first full-length album for Brisbane’s Blues Arcadia finds the accomplished five-piece at the height of their powers.” – Phil Stafford, Courier Mail

“An impressively accomplished debut album… Blues Arcadia exudes all-round excellence” – Tony Hillier, Weekend Australian Review

“This is what a 21st century blues band should sound like – a howling celebration of what it is to make music now” – Mark Doherty, Nothin’ But The Blues, 4ZZZ 102.1FM

“Damn good songwriting across a range of styles, allied to some quality musicianship from all concerned.”- Iain Cameron, Blues Matters Magazine

“A highlight of the performance is the interplay between main songwriters Alan Boyle and guitarist Chris Harvey, with musical counterpoint from Parmis Rose (keys) and bassist Jeremy Klysz” – COURIER MAIL QWeekend
“Next time they’re playing, make sure you see them.” SCENESTR Magazine

Doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm.
