COPACABANA WEDNESDAYS: Coisa Linda, 5.30pm-8.30pm

Coisa Linda means “Beautiful thing” in Portuguese and plays samba, bossa nova and Musica Popular Brasileira. The duo makes the joyful and vibrant music from Brazil come to life as it is Brazilian music played by Brazilians.

Lucia Medeiros (vox, percussion) and Mauricio Hosi (guitar) combine their strenghts to display all the beauty and power of various Brazilian genres, from samba and bossa nova to baiao and MPB.

These talented musicians will take you on a beautiful trip through the magic sounds from Brazil, while playing the finest songs from Brazilian popular music repertoire. Coisa Linda delivers a warm and sophisticated interpretation of some of Brazil’s most loved musical masterpieces, adding some extra spice to this rich blend of sounds.

Lucia Medeiros – vocals
Brazilian singer, moved to Australia in December 2006 and studied a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Voice) and a Graduate Diploma (Vocal Pedagogy) at the Queensland Conservatorium. Lucia’s accent from Rio de Janeiro, allied to her gentle yet powerful timbre, give her performances great authenticity. Lucia displays effortless phrasing, strong rhythmic feel and is a talented storyteller.

Mauricio Hosi – guitar
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Mauricio Hosi graduated as a Bachelor of Music, majoring in the Guitar from FAAM – Faculty of Arts Alcantara Machado, moving to Australia in 2007. A gifted guitarist, Mauricio adds harmonic sophistication to the group and plays in a way that only a good Brazilian guitarist could do.
