Event Details

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In his upcoming workshop in Brisbane, Nic will focus on:

  • The Vocalist as a ‘Band Leader’ and as a member of the Ensemble;
  • Leading and interacting with instrumentalists effectively;
  • Melodic and rhythmic choices with the melody;
  • Truly understanding the form, and hearing your way through the form of a standard;

The importance of arrangement and stylistic choice for a song; what tempo works? what style suits the melody? what overall arrangement will result in the most effective and emotional performance of the song?

Vocalists will all have the opportunity to perform a song with an accompanist and the above topics will be discussed through live performance. There will also be an opportunity for open question time towards the end of the workshop. Nic is about as ‘warm and friendly’ a musician as you will find anywhere in the world, and one of the best ‘front men’ in the business!
