Event Details

Kimba Griffith’s trademark sound is one of light-footed swinging vocals, finely enunciated lyrics and a gift for finding the heart of the song. From her 20 year musical romance with guitarist Ryan Griffith to her recent cult hit ‘The Songs that Saved your Life’ at the 2018 Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Kimba has a reputation for a driving swing feel, her ability to reinterpret any song in a new way, and her rare finesse on a ballad.

Kimba’s shows regularly sell-out, popular with jazz fans who like a touch of bawdy humour, high energy, and the occasional tune that sends the entire audience misty-eyed.

Kimba is a regular guest artist at the Paris Cat Jazz Club, Jazz Lab and other Melbourne jazz clubs, and has played festivals from Scotland to Australia and beyond. She’s also mildly ‘big in Japan’ and performed a sell-out tour there in 2015.

Joining her in this performance are some of Queensland’s premier jazz Musicians: Martha Baartz on Saxophone, Andrew Shaw on Double Bass and Dave Sanders on Drums. By her side will be her husband and long-time collaborator, guitarist Ryan Griffith.

“Kimba’s fine tone and phrasing take us down new pathways, creating intimate settings that captivate”
(Leon Gettler, The Age)

“Welcome to some old school jazz without any distractions. Kimba Griffith has a classic approach to her vocals and is pitch perfect the whole way with no blemishes.” The Music

Doors open at 6.30pm. Show starts at 8.00pm.
