Popular Australian jazz vocalist Hetty Kate is instantly recognisable, and is often lauded for her “natural musicality”, unadorned vocal style, clear tone and impeccable timing. It’s these qualities that see her invited to perform with a selection of the world’s best, including singing as part of Australian Jazz luminary James Morrison’s bands for over five years.
Hetty has graced stages large and small from New Zealand to New York, and has fast made her mark on both the Australian and international jazz scenes, described as “the real deal” and “one of the world’s leading swing vocalists” (Will Friedwald, Wall Street Journal, 2017). Sharing classics and curios from The Great American Songbook, you will discover Hetty is a warm, fun and charismatic storyteller; a born entertainer and song stylist, with an effortless approach that is truly her own.
2017 saw Hetty move from Melbourne to Paris, to continue to develop her international career, yet naturally Australia is never far from her heart, and she returns once a year to tour and make music with her dearest friends and musicians. For this rare and intimate concert Hetty is joined by her longtime collaborator, superb guitarist James Sherlock and local musicians Thierry Fossemalle (double bass) and Dave Sanders (drums). This lineup tour as often as they can, and recently performed a sell out show for the Brisbane Festival in 2018.
Doors open at 6.30pm. Show starts at 8.00pm.
