James is one of the most natural and talented musicians in the country. His sound is fat and his style oozes soul as well as substance. He has the rare combination of instrumental technique and natural melodic and rhythmic drive. Born to musician parents and growing up in a house full of music James started playing saxophone at the age of six. After attending WAAPA where he earnt an Associate Diploma of Performing Arts in Jazz and Contemporary Music and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, fell in love with jazz, James quickly realised his talents. Adding to his musical repertoire James also plays the drums, congas, guitar, timbale, hand percussion and bass over a variety of genres.

At the young age of 16 James began teaching and he is currently a lecturer at both the Jazz Music Institute and the Queensland Conservatorium and still performs around Brisbane regularly.

James has performed internationally and on television and has played in support gigs for some big acts including Stevie Wonder. With instrumental influences from Sonny Rollins to Eddie Lockjaw Davies to Joe Lovano, his performances are special nights of music not to be missed.
