Dan Quigley’s childhood was enriched by the sounds of jazz legends. As a professional trumpet player since he was 17 Dan’s playing displays a rich heritage of the jazz tradition, but it wasn’t until is his early 20s did the impact of early exposure and connection to jazz legends spark the passion to pursue a career as a jazz musician, educator and advocate.

Dan has performed with some of Australia’s finest musicians and is currently the Head of School at the Jazz Music Institute, Brisbane where he enjoys teaching a range of subjects. Dan also performed as one of only two Queensland representatives in the Australian National Jazz Orchestra in 2017. Dan has been endorsed by Wynton Marsalis, Director of Jazz at Lincoln Centre: “This is one of the first jazz curriculums that addresses the entire fundamental range of jazz styles; from New Orleans to Bebop to Modern, it’s all there. Dan Quigley has developed a template that should be followed by schools who are serious about the study and performance of jazz music”.

Even after years of playing, Dan still practices daily and believes that jazz brings together the best musical elements and puts them together at the same time.
