What a year! Doo-Bop hosted over 800 acts across all 3 venues in 2019 and we had a blast at every one!!

The Highlights

The Doo-Bop Gatsby Room

As the 2019 kicked off we opened the brand new level one Doo-Bop Gatsby Room. Australian chart toppers GANGgajang blew us away, presenting the Grand Opening with ‘Surfing Round The World’ on January 10th.

Throughout the year the Gatsby Room has welcomed some of Australia’s favourite bands, with pop, rock, blues and party vibes. Some old favourites you might remember include, The Choirboys, The Chantoozies, and Frontm3n.

The new venue was also lucky enough to host some top tribute acts, Rebecca O’Conner left an impression on Brisbane with Simply the best Tina Turner Tribute around. Billy v Elton Duelling Pianos became a sell out sensation 3 times!

“The Billy vs Elton show absolutely loves playing the Gatsby room! Sold out shows, fantastic in house sound and crew and just a great vibe all round. Cannot wait to come back!” Michael Hynes.

Billy v Elton Duelling Pianos is returning for a 4th show February 15th – Tickets on sale now!

The Doo-Bop Piano Bar

Our wonderful Piano Bar performers set a high standard in the new look ground floor with many memorable nights. We had some outstanding Showtunes Tuesdays, overflowing with talented music enthusiast and those who just came to watch, including  Aussie Star Peter Rowsthorn who popped in one evening!

“What a year I’ve had in the Piano Bar at Doo-Bop. Showtune Tuesdays have gone from strength to strength, we had some amazing performers at Cabaret@Doo-Bop and weekends have been rocking! There have been so many fantastic regulars that have become a real community” – Trevor Jones

The Doo-Bop Basement

From seasoned professionals to up and coming superstars The Basement came alive with music from across the globe.

Australia’s favourite jazz musician James Morrison can’t stay away, putting on a whopping 16 performances in 2019 each one as good as the last.

We have loved supporting emerging stars through our partnerships with the Jazz Music Institute and Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. These monthly showcases have discovered some of Brisbane’s finest up-and-coming talent.

Local artist John Smallcombe is always a hit presenting music from legendary jazz artist such as Miles Davis and Art Blakey. Johns sets are world class every time.

The Late Sessions

Anything can happen at Doo-Bop’s Late Sessions, you never know who might turn up! Last year Doo-Bop welcomed many musicians on for an impromptu performance including Vocal legend Alyson Joyce.

“I wasn’t expecting to see Alyson Joyce rock up to the Late Sessions at Doo-Bop Jazz Bar, but here she is in July in the flesh!” Geoff Norris, Photographer

After such a fantastic year we can wait to opening on January 14th, don’t miss TRIO KLEINE AHNUNG: Carl Morgan – Sam Anning – Raj Jayaweera in the basement from 8pm and the talented Rebecca Lloyd in the Piano Bar from 6pm.
